A Special Guest does a mysterious REVEAL
We have 17 pro-rated memberships left, sale ends March 30
Subscribe to our YouTube and spread the word!
In reverse order: We really do hope you will subscribe to the YouTube feed. One nice thing about it: it tells you when we put something new up. Also, if you like the book trailers and goofy comedy sketches Brandy gets up to, she actually has a YouTube channel, too.
The advert is just slightly wrong; we only have 17 of the pro-rated memberships left. With promo code NEWSLETTER, you get even more of a discount, so it’s a steal for you—your own cool swag, the rest of the year’s VIP shows (including Ed Yong, Mary Roach), and more. But there aren’t many left, and the sale ends March 30. Please hurry if you want to take advantage of it! (Otherwise, we of course still have our VIP monthly membership, but it doesn’t come with scarf/hat/tee). Click the link below!
The literary nonprofit PEN America revealed the winners of its annual literary awards at a ceremony in New York last Thursday evening hosted by actor and author Kal Penn… And Florence Williams won the PEN/E.O. Wilson Literary Science Writing Award for Heartbreak: A Personal and Scientific Journey! Please join us this Thursday to congratulate Florence and to hear much more about HEARTBREAK. ALSO: we have a secret special guest! host of super-star book group You Should Try Reading will be joining us—for a reveal (no one on the group has yet to see his face)! We are super excited to bring him on board to talk about Florence’s book, which he also wrote a review for; not to be missed.
IT’S COCKTAIL TIME:
SEE FACEBOOK FOR VOTING ON NAMES! This cocktail gets to the “heart” of the desert Agave with a little TEQUILA TEA.
Make ahead of time:
Lemon Syrup:
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
3 tablespoons lemon juice
Make a syrup with sugar and water, using a small pot on the stove and medium heat. After the sugar has dissolved, remove from heat and add 3 tablespoons of lemon juice. Stir, and let cool.
Just before enjoying:
Cocktail:
1 oz lemon syrup
1 cup Earl Grey tea (hot or cold)
2 oz peach syrup (from canned peaches)
1 oz gold tequila
0.5 oz peach schnapps
Garnish: 2 canned peach slices
Mocktail:
1 oz lemon syrup
1 cup Earl Grey tea (hot or cold)
3 oz canned peach syrup
1 oz fresh lemon juice
2 canned peach slices
Mix ingredients in a glass mug, and stir. Add two peach slices to sit at the bottom of the mug (garnish, but tasty).
Warm up peach syrup ahead of time if making a hot version of the cocktail/mocktail. Add ice cubes if making a cold version of the cocktail/mocktail.
