Ever have one of those days where you get around to your planned to-do list at, like, never? Or at 3pm, anyway. The best laid plans, eh? I do have something to share, though. I mean, I have the link to Thursday’s AMAZING #WomensHistoryMonth show (free to all because some of you donated here—still accepting till Thurs). And I have the cocktail, too. But in addition, I wanted to wax complimentary a minute:
I have always seen the Peculiar Book Club as a safe space, a home, a found family.
Someone remarked on the PBC recently, saying it was quite unusual to see something that is both a show/podcast, but also an actual group/social community (I agree! We are unique!) But then they said something odd. They complimented me for being so accommodating to—let’s say divergent—individuals. I was astounded. See, I *am* divergent, myself; I’m autistic and nonbinary and just a lot weird in general. I am not accommodating as in tolerating, I am welcoming with open arms! I have always seen the Peculiar Book Club as a safe space, a home, a found family. I want all of you to know and support each other, and we have endeavored to take down barriers and create accessibility. But just in case any of your were wondering how I feel about the #Peculiars, I decided to let you know: I love you; I think you’re rad. I enjoy your memes, your flea market finds, your comments and questions during the shows, your tweets and FB posts. You matter to me. You matter to Davey. We get an absolute kick of joy just hanging out with you and with our authors on Thursdays. I hope you will come hang with us this week, too. (NOTE: Just a last reminder, we have 15 spots left if you want a reduced pro-rated membership—just till Mar 31. Get them here.)
Ordinary Equality with Kate Kelly
THE BATTLE GOES ON! Ordinary Equality digs into the fascinating and little-known history of the women and queer people who have helped shape the U.S. Constitution for more than 200 years. Based on author Kate Kelly’s acclaimed podcast of the same name, Ordinary Equality recounts a story centuries in the making. From before the Constitution was even drafted to the modern day, she examines how and why constitutional equality for women and Americans of all marginalized genders has been systematically undermined for the past 100-plus years, and then calls us all to join the current movement to put it back on the table and get it across the finish line. MUSIC: a chatty little number by Cord Ravenswood, our Peculiar in the Field, talking about Hawks and Doves! ***NOTE:This show was VIP only, but a donation in honor of #WomensHistoryMonth has made it free to all!
